Newspapers hail 'Red Fury' as Spain ends decades of disappointment with Euro 2008 victory

Spain's 1-0 victory over Germany in the European Championship final was hailed by the media Monday as the country finally discarded its tag of perennial underachiever.

Spain won its first major football trophy in 44 years on Sunday.

"It's no longer a dream, it's a reality: We're champions!" daily Marca said on its front page which featured a photo of captain and goalkeeper Iker Casillas hoisting Spain's second-ever European Championship trophy.
